Katrina Cooler

Karen and Mark Logan created the Katrina Cooler™ using lumber recovered from New Orleans houses that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

The Katrina Cooler was born from a desire to repurpose these old growth and hardwood building materials in such a way as to honor the homes and neighborhoods that make New Orleans one of the most unique cities in world.

Each cooler can be attributed to a house that was either renovated or torn down in New Orleans. The wood for this particular cooler came from a shotgun double located at 810 & 812 Hidalgo in Homedale (near Lakeview Playground). Karen and Mark, along with their business partners, are currently renovating this wonderful structure and look forward to seeing it once again become someone's home.

Own a Piece of History

Two tickets to attend St. Pius X’s Christmas Gala: $80

Babysitter for 3 hours: $30

Wine glass for diamond jewelry raffle: $10

Owning your own piece of history: PRICELESS

As parents and parishioners we have worked for three years to raise funds to replace the Hurricane Katrina damaged roof of St. Pius X Church, a Lake Vista landmark.

Now, you can own a piece of history thanks to our own talented Gabrielle Champagne, who has handcrafted these limited edition crosses from the roof’s copper. Each uniquely designed work of art serves as a lovely reminder of our strength and determination in coming together for a common goal – the true spirit of surviving and overcoming obstacles. They remind us to count our blessings as we look, with hope, toward the future.

Available only at this year’s gala auction, the bidding for these wonderful collector’s items is sure to be fierce since only 32 exist! Once they are gone, they are gone!
